How to Become a Contributor¶
We welcome contributions from individuals and organizations who are interested in improving the UIM Protocol. To become a contributor, please follow these steps:
- Read the Contributing Guide to understand our contribution process.
- Find an issue or feature to work on in our GitHub repository.
- Submit a pull request with your changes.
- Engage with the community and participate in discussions.
Recognition Criteria¶
Contributors are recognized based on the following criteria:
- Code Contributions: Implementing new features, fixing bugs, or improving performance.
- Documentation: Improving existing documentation or creating new guides and tutorials.
- Testing: Testing the protocol in different environments and reporting issues.
- Community Support: Helping answer questions and supporting other users.
- Advocacy: Promoting the UIM Protocol and helping grow the community.
Contributor Levels¶
We recognize different levels of contribution to the UIM Protocol:
1. Occasional Contributor¶
Occasional contributors have made one or more small contributions to the project, such as fixing a bug, improving documentation, or reporting issues.
2. Regular Contributor¶
Regular contributors have made multiple significant contributions to the project over time, such as implementing new features, improving existing features, or creating comprehensive documentation.
3. Core Contributor¶
Core contributors have made substantial and sustained contributions to the project, have deep knowledge of the codebase, and actively participate in the project's direction and community.
4. Maintainer¶
Maintainers are core contributors who have been granted commit access to the repository and are responsible for reviewing and merging pull requests, triaging issues, and maintaining the project's quality.
Becoming a Maintainer¶
Maintainers are selected from the pool of core contributors based on their technical expertise, contribution history, and community involvement. The process for becoming a maintainer includes:
- Consistently contributing high-quality code, documentation, or other contributions.
- Demonstrating a deep understanding of the project's codebase and architecture.
- Actively participating in the community by answering questions, reviewing pull requests, and helping others.
- Being nominated by an existing maintainer and approved by the core team.
